Ever think about working at home rather than spending your life at the typical day job? Well if you answered yes you are not alone, because many people search the web daily looking for ways to create income while sitting in the comfort of their home. It's a win-win situation if you can do it, because you eliminate the stress of your day job and the daily routine of fighting traffic, using fuel and just plain depression of having to do the same thing day after day.

It's not as easy as it sounds, but it can be done. It's not that it's hard but many people jump into the first program they see offering to pay them for doing nothing only to realize later that they should have done some research. I always recommend either doing the research yourself or using a website like mine, but not necessarily mine. Some choose to do both. I would use a work at home directory site and look for what's popular among other people thus the reason for this article.

I did some research to find what the most popular programs were for April of this year. There were many different types of programs to choose from such as Data Entry, Type at Home, Paid Surveys, Rebate Processors, Order processors, Email Processors and Medical Transcription. There are many people using all of these programs some are having success and other are not if the real truth is to be known. I believe the key to being successful is that they find programs that match their respective work at home profile and work hard initially until they get their income to the levels they desire.

When I finished my research I found Rebate Processors and Order Processing to be the most popular of all programs. Now that you know what other people are trying the next step is to find which specific program in that niche of the market place that you would like to join.

Recently I received an email message that went something like this, "I want to do exactly what you are doing in my business." Come to find out what this person wanted to "do" was make lots of money using the Internet without having to work at it.

I almost fell out of my chair. I wasn't sure if it was from the fact that I was now in my tenth hour of working that day and I was tired or being taken off balance by my surprise at this person's belief that you don't have to work at something to be successful. I don't know why this would really surprise me as I have been hearing people say this type of thing for years.

The fact is my business did extremely well in 2004 and much of that has to do with my knowledge and use of the Internet in my overall marketing. It also had to do with the fact I am very systematic in my approach to building my business.

More times than not, people who are successful online and off have systems in place. The fact is anyone, yes anyone, can increase revenues substantially by incorporating the use of the Internet into overall marketing. However, to think you don't have to do anything and reap unbelievable benefit is the great frustration of those of us who are using the Internet effectively.

3 Big Business Tips That Mom Taught Me by Barb Girson

My mom is getting up there in age (92) yet she refuses to admit it. Maybe because her attitude is so young...or maybe she just does not believe it. She raised to two sets of children spanning an 18 year gap between my older brother and youngest brother.

Unfortunately, my dad died when I was 9 and mom fell apart for a while. In time, she found her strength and continues to be a constant source of inspiration to myself and those around me. At 92, she is still an independent woman. Although she never pursued a career outside of her family, she has passed down a wealth of practical wisdom that helped me build mine. The wisdom is timeless and has helped me to become a better leader and a better mom. Her attitude has been especially valuable to me in running a successful home-based business and in coaching entrepreneurs how to gain confidence.

Now living in an independent Senior Living apartment, mom gets to finally accept help from me. In honor of Mother's Day, here are a few of my mom's mom-isms that help me in business:

1. Just Smile And Say Thank You.

Mom understands how to build self-esteem. As a young chubby, adolescent girl, I would frequently bat off compliments when they came my way. "I like your new shirt", someone would say. "I would reply, "It's not new, I got it a few years ago." or "You did really well on your presentation." And my reply, "But, I messed up..."

If mom ever heard me deflect kind words or recant my errors, she would firmly say, again and again..."Just smile and say Thank you."

Now I realize that compliments are a gift. Someone wants to notice you and we demonstrate poise and worthiness by accepting the gift. Smiling and saying thank you communicates self-esteem, a state transferable and essential to all situations. Attitude is everything!

2. Make It Easy On Yourself

One day when our daughters were little, I felt so overwhelmed by the amount of business deadlines, kid's activities and mounting stressors on my To-Do list. There was no relief since the home was our mecca for family and business. I called my mom, she listened and could hear the pressure I was putting on myself. She gave me a few ideas:

• Buy some ready-made meals.... and once you heat it up in your own pans and take it out of the oven...no one will know or care.• Hire someone to at least help you through the rough time.• Be easier on yourself, and figure out what you need to do to relieve the pressure.

The next day, mom had a basket of apples delivered to my home. These short suggestions can go a long way, and make a big difference.

3. When Life Deals You An Unwanted Blow, Feel Sorrow & Move On

Whether it has been a job loss, family loss and an unwanted blow, mom encourages us to stay strong and move on. We lost my sister, Marlene, to cancer in 2001. Moms are not supposed to outlive their children. Through it all she said, "Barb, feel sorrow, feel sad, have faith, mourn... and move on." This message has been a mantra through minor disappointments and major mishaps. Mom's attitude and encouragement keeps us moving forward. We are able to tackle the many highs and lows in life more effectively with the determination to move on.

These lessons have helped me in life and in business. I hope they help you too.

When it comes to networking on forum boards, are you building a quality business reputation? Do you even know how to properly network on forums?

I would like to share a few important tips on how to make your networking experience a positive one, for you and your business reputation.

1. Read All Rules and Guidelines. It is very important to read all of the forum board rules, before proceeding with your first post. Rules and Guidelines vary from forum to forum, don't assume they are all the same. If you feel you can abide by the rules posted, then it's time to proceed to step 2.

2. Fill Out Your Forum Profile. Your forum profile is very important, so please don't overlook filling it out. Try to be as complete as possible with the information requested on your profile. Forum members do read new member's profiles. It's a great way to let others know about you and your business, without having to spam an Ad. It's equally important to make yourself a signature tag, while filling out your profile. Most forums won't allow business links in the body, of the message board post.

3. Post An Introduction. After you have completed your profile, it's now time to post a new member introduction. Your introduction should be a brief 1-2 paragraphs in length. 6. Consistency. Be consistent with your networking efforts. Set aside time on a weekly basis, to visit the forum board. Participate in current topic discussions, or better yet, start a few new topic discussions yourself.

I’ve been a work from home mom for two years now. My daughter goes to a half day program at her school and I am able to take her and pick her up. Whenever there are field trips, I am able to go. When she needs to stay home from school because of illness or doctors appointments, I don’t have to scramble to find someone to watch her or call in to work yet again. I make a full time income from a part time job. Sounds great right? Well, it is. But I didn’t arrive to this point over night. Working from home is a real job and there is no way around that. I started my own online business from scratch and like any business it took time to build. I found the right resources at the right time to help get me started. Now, I’d like to help you.

Staring your own business online can be easier than you think…but it does take time and effort. The first thing you need to do is decide what you would like to do online. Some entrepreneurs make their online money by affiliate marketing. This is where you build websites that promote a product that someone else is selling. When a customer follows a link to the product and buys it from your web page, you get a commission on the sale. This method is convenient because all you do is build site and wait for the money to roll in. However, effective affiliate marketing is a very serious thing and you cannot get into by any search you would do on a popular search engine. Stompernet offers great online tutorials for affiliate marketing but it costs a pretty penny. If you are interested in affiliate marketing, a good place to start would be to find some books with helpful information. If you’re low on cash, your library will probably have some of these. Or visit your local Books-a-Million and read there rather than buying the book.

Another way to effectively make money online is to sell products in an online store. If you have a large space to store items, you can buy bulk items and store them in your garage, extra room, etc. You’ll get a better price for your items, but there are some drawbacks to this method. First of all you’ll have to do the shipping yourself. You’ll also have to purchase the shipping materials (boxes, etc.) separately. If you’re going to sell tee shirts this could be a great option for you because you can store them easily and the shipping expenses won’t cost that much.

The other way to sell online is to do drop-shipping. This is where you advertise products online and when someone orders from you, you order from the distributor. The distributor charges you for the wholesale portion of the item, and ships the item to your customer for you. Then you keep the retail mark-up that’s left over. This is what I do. As great as it sounds, it has its issues as well. You have no control over shipping and you have to consistently be in touch with the distributor to ensure they have shipped to your customer. If there is a problem with the order, you’ve got to have a reliable distributor who is going to help you out and not leave you on your own to fix it. For this reason, you want to make sure you know all the rules and regulations a distributor has for being a drop-ship retailer.

Owning your own business can have some draw-backs as well. You are never completely “off” of work. You are the sole operator of your business which means you do the accounting, the customer service, placing orders, keeping your web site up to date, etc. I typically can take Saturday and Sunday “off” but I do check emails to ensure that I don’t have customer questions. When I go on vacation I must take my computer with me and check emails and put in orders, etc. It only takes about 1 hour per day, but I can never just not think about it.

You also need to consider that customer service is essential to an online business. If you lose your temper with customers easily or don’t treat them right, you’ll go south quickly. And again, building it takes time. Don’t quit any other job you may have until you are steadily making money online. It only takes 3-4 hours per day to run an effective online web site. That is if you’re only going to do one site.

With our current economic situation many people are looking for anyway possible to earn extra money to help pay their bills this month not to mention next month. In fact there are some people who could not pay their bills this month, because of losing their job or medical bills. One can only imagine the stress these people are under.

I recommend find a work at home directory website, like mine, but not necessarily mine, that had done some level of research for you. This should help you speed up the whole process and avoid many of the scam artists that currently lurk on the web.

It is important that you find programs that meet your income objectives, comfort zone, skill sets and available time. Matching any programs you like with the above work at home profile will only help give you a leg up on being successful.

In summary, take your time join 2 - 3 programs, work hard, and exercise patience while working toward your financial goals. It will take time to get your work at home endeavor bringing in cash on a regular basis. It will be time well spent the time spent working should decrease depending on the at home job you choose. Working from the comfort of you home or anywhere for that matter requires a special discipline that some people do not have. It's important to remember that you will have to actually do some work to get paid. It's not a get rich scheme. I only mention this because many times people think you can simply join and the checks will come rolling in. Wrong!

There's no quick fix to find a work at home job. Finding and getting hired to work at home is just as tough as going out and finding a brick and mortar job. So what it is that you're supposed to do?

Give yourself a break.

What? Yes that's right. As hard as it sounds and it probably is, it's the best thing you can do for yourself. But why am I telling you to take a break? When you let your work at home job search consume you, you're sacrificing something else like spending time with your kids, doing housework, or not taking care of you.

Searching for a work at home job is the same as searching for a job outside the home. Does this sound like you? You sit all day at your computer weeding out the legitimate jobs from the scams, you are stressing because you're not sure how you're going to pay your bills and you're obsessed with checking your emails every half hour to see if Human Resources replied. You're physically and mentally exhausted and it makes you ill just thinking about it?

Is it productive? No.

The truth is the job isn't going to magically appear no matter how many hours you spend sitting in front of the computer. I used to think if I worked my business the same hours or more every day, 365 days a year I would reap more. Truthfully, I earned more when I balanced my energies between my work at home business and my work at home life.

Prepare your day by planning and setting up a schedule. Will you be researching companies for its legitimacy or will you be applying for jobs? Use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of which companies you've researched or applied at. You may want to include these information date, position applied for, contact details, your own notes and other pertinent information. This will also help when you need to do follow ups.

When you're done, you're done because you can only do so much before it's out of your hands. Step away from the computer. Cleaning the house can be therapeutic and completing a simple task like doing a load of laundry can make a difference on how you feel. A change of pace can relieve stress, supply renewed energy and focus and most of all increase productivity.

Frequently I come across subject titles along the lines of "HELP! I need to find a work at home job NOW!" I have to admit it's a frightening statement with signs of desperation oozing rather disgustingly pleading for a WAH job that may not come into existence for many months. There is really no way of making fast easy money NOW. Did I really say that? Well it's true to an extent. You can't make tons of money quickly online -- legally that is, but you can make money. While you're not going to make enough to pay all your bills, your mortgage or a down payment on your summer cottage, you will make enough to enjoy a venti mocha java from Starbucks and maybe pay a smaller household bill! Use your imagination and you may have enough to put a little bit away for your summer cottage.

Here are four very easy ways to make money online. Taking this route is probably best if you're not starving for money because like everything it takes a bit of time...with the exception of #4 and we'll get to that.

1. Everyone can write an article and submit it. Everyone has something they are knowledgeable about or is an "expert" in some field. If you have a basic understanding of the English language, good spelling and proper grammar you can do this and write for AssociatedContent.com They pay all US residents anywhere from $3 to $20 per submitted and approved article. You can also earn money for x amount of page views.

2. Paid surveys. I think this one is a bit trickier as surveys come to you depending on your demographics and your profile. Now, be careful you're not joining survey sites with the compensation of gift certificates or sweepstakes unless this is what you don't mind. Focus groups pay a lot more so it's good to look into those as well.

3. Paid to do offers, paid to click and paid to read emails. There are some very reputable paying ones. Back in my days when I first started online "paid to" was one of my make-easy-money-now ventures. Every so often I made my Starbucks hot chocolate money. It wasn't all that bad except it was time consuming, but it was good pocket change.

4. Craigslist. This is where you can make the big bucks and fast! Have anything to sell? Furniture? Sporting goods? Toys? Books? Clothes? I have found selling in your own city or state items go fast! You don’t have to be moving to have a moving sale. It just makes the items sell faster. An easy $100 or more for the computer hutch and computer chair you have sitting in your basement collecting dust? Plus any items you don't want anymore charged at whatever price you choose? This is some decent pocket hefty change!

You join link exchange programs left and right. Months later you see your page rank hasn't changed. Where's the traffic?

So I came up with a different idea. Why do back link exchanges? Most websites have the link to there link partnering at the bottom of there site where the visitors rarely visit anyways. You can't blame them, they don't want to lose there visitors to your site. Also if you pay attention to the back link PR, it's either ranked a big fat 0 or not ranked at all.

I have this PR tool in my toolbar offered free by google webmaster tools. This is a must have tool. I can see the PR of what ever site I'm visiting the moment it loads. Sure beats the old fashion way of running it through a off site checker.

Whats the point of exchanging a link on a low PR site? Makes sence don't it? The website your exchanging links with has a high PR but the backlink page is low. I think being on a low PR site actually hurts your sites PR. That of course I'm still testing the waters on. Long story short, don't quote me on that assumption.

For two years I have been researching on how sites no better than mine or others rank high in search engines and have an abundance of free traffic.

Not sure if you know how I do this, if you would like to know. Just ask me in the comment bar. That is a whole different blog itself. I will write a topic about and explain in full detail. If noone is interested, I may or may not.

Ok now for the good stuff. Best way to raise your page rank is to think like the search engines. If this confuses you, let me explain. Your site is being ranked by a robot. What better way to rank a website than a human editor? Well if I slap your link on one of my back pages where I really don't want my visitors. Why would a search engine robot rank you higher? Now if a robot sees your link on the front page of a website. Doesn't that tell the robot, this must be a great site for our visitors. The web owner is more willing to let his/her visitors visit this site. This alone makes your website more appealing to search engine robots.
